Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind
Worship is fundementally all about loving God! This is the first and greatest commandment. Therefore, worship is the ultimate aim of all our ministries. Human beings were made for worship. The question is: what will we worship? Or, whom will we worship? Every avenue besides God himself – perfectly revealed inJesus – is bankrupt. God wants us to experience the highest joy possible in the world. It just so happens that He is the source of our highest joy. Think over Psalm 16:11 –
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forever more.
Can you see this? The fullest experience of joy is to be found in God. And the unending experience of joy is to be found in God. Perhaps no one has seen this and said it better than St. Augustine in his Confession.
You[God] arouse us so that praising you may bring us joy, because you have made us and drawn us to yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.
Soli Deo gloria
